The Particle Adventure:

An interactive tour of quarks, neutrinos, extra dimensions antimatter, the fundamental forces, dark matter, accelerators and particle detectors.

Chart of Fundamental Particles and Interactions

... including the newly discovered top quark and tau neutrino! The chart summarizes the world of particles (including quarks, gluons, and neutrinos) and the fundamental forces.
It is available in three sizes. You can view scanned images (medium = 103K), (largest = 382K).

A feature story in Science Magazine, headlined "Move Over Mendeleyev," describes the CPEP "chart of the subatomic world" as "the physicist's answer to the chemist's periodic table of the elements." The story discusses injecting "the excitement of the latest physics into classroom teaching." More than 200,000 copies of the chart have been distributed.

Book

The Charm of Strange Quarks: Mysteries and Revolutions of Particle Physics.

Can be ordered now. This book brings the excitement and a basic understanding of this fundamental topic to the public and especially to students. It includes very recent developments in particle physics and cosmology. More details.

CD-ROM

The CD-ROM version of our web feature contains The Particle Adventure and The Quark Adventure (appropriate for science museums, open houses, etc.)
The CD-ROM has English, Spanish, and French versions of both Adventures and works on PC's and Mac's. Only available from Particle Data Group cpepeduc@cpepweb.org (NOT from Science Kit).

Classroom activities

Packet of classroom activities with worksheets. This packet describes the concepts of the chart, the history of these ideas, and the design and use of particle accelerators and detectors. It brings particle physics to the classroom with meaningful activities.

You can view these worksheets within the Particle Adventure's educational information section.

Workshops

Workshops for teachers are conducted at various sites in the US. Contact CPEP to learn more.
